INGREDIENTS CINNAMON ROLL - KANELBULAR

DOUGH

  • 570 ml cups of lukewarm milk
  • 150 g caster sugar
  • 45 g fresh yeast
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom seeds crushed with a pestle and mortar
  • 180 g / 1 ½ sticks unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 free-range egg
  • 1 kg of everyday flour

FILLING

  • 100 g unsalted butter softened at room temperature
  • 200 g dark brown sugar (preferably still soft from a new package)
  • 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon

TOPPING

  • Egg
  • Candy sugar

PREPARATION METHOD:

  1. Place the milk, sugar, yeast, cardamom, melted butter and egg in a bowl and mix with a dough hook. Gradually add the flour until it is completely incorporated. Cover the dough with a clean tea towel and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour
  2. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin until it is approximately 30x80 cm and 7 mm thick. Do the butter evenly over the dough and sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon over the entire surface. Roll up the dough and cut it into pieces of about 2 cm.
  3. Place the pieces of dough on a baking tray and cover them with a clean tea towel. Now leave them in a warm place for 30-60 minutes
  4. Then “brush” the rolls with the beaten egg and sprinkle the sugar over the rolls. In the meantime, preheat the oven to 200°C (or Gas 6). Bake the rolls for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Then remove them from the oven and place them on an oven rack.
  5. Let the rolls cool and serve them fresh.
  6. Invite your friends.
  7. Would you like a cup of tea or a cup of tea?
  8. Enjoy your fika!

Enjoy your Kanelbullar delight!
