Firebox heats and connects
Campfire conversations & celebrations is what we aim for!
Together around the Fire. What could be better than sharing your passion. Enjoy beautiful stories and anecdotes from the past together. Dream together and create new stories that will be told later. Starting new traditions and rituals together.
The power of simplicity gives plenty of room for creativity. It all started a long time ago. Thanks to fire, man became a storyteller.
What happens to people when they sit around the fire in a group in the evening? They tell each other stories that make it clear to them how their society works and what the norms and values are. The anthropologist Polly Wiessner discovered this. According to Wiessner, that difference has played an important role in human evolution. The same pattern may still be found in modern society. According to Wiessner, the introduction of fire (+/- 400,000 years ago) created a completely new dimension in human life. Because fire created cooking areas and communal meals. And the campfire extended the day, if only because the light from the flames slows down melatonin production and thus delays sleep. People sat together when there wasn't much to do. People who traveled around in different groups during the day met in the evening in a relaxed atmosphere. At the campfire, 'imaginary communities' were forged and deep solidarity was created. Primal grilling, cooking and chilling.
